25 years have past since I first arrived in Adelaide from Himeji city Japan, with the wish to present delectable Japanese cuisine to the people of this city.

To date, I have opened 6 Japanese food outlets, starting with Himeji Japanese Restaurant in 1993, followed by the casual dining styled Genki Restaurant in 1997, then a take-away style Sushi bar in the department store David Jones in 2001, with similar take-away stores in City Cross Arcade, Westfield Tea Tree Plaza, and Southern Cross Arcade. However, my most recent offering “Gourmet Sushi Bar Genki” is of a completely unique concept.

The concept of the store is based on the next generation of Train style sushi from both Japan and around the World. Our motto consists of Freshness (natural ingredients, health conscious), Creativity (original recipes), and Flexibility in service to create an environment for all my customers to enjoy.

Healthy menu items such as Brown Rice and Black Rice have been seamlessly integrated into our state of the art touch panel ordering system, a triumph of Japanese technology.

From the freshest seafood, increasingly popular Wagyu, to organic vegetables that are safe and plentiful and in season.

From Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon, Southern Blue Fin Tuna from Port Lincoln, Tasmanian Sea Urchin, to Coffin Bay Oysters, we will not be troubled for ingredients. And of course, a veritable treasure trove of the Barossa and McLaren Vale wine regions wines.

The new Sushi Bar Genki was made possible by the exchange of human resources and technical cooperation with the Masuya group of Sydney, and I would like to express my gratitude in the resulting next generation Japanese Cuisine menu.
